Lors de mes séjours à Moscou depuis quelques années, j’ai eu l’occasion d’entrer dans des églises orthodoxes, et j’y aime vraiment l’ambiance. Dans ce contexte je prie autrement, souvent sans mot. Mon expérience la plus forte fut de passer d’une célébration orthodoxe, à une messe catholique, une à la suite de l’autre. J’ai expérimenté la complémentarité entre ces 2 types de prières.
J’ai vécu dans la cathédrale orthodoxe du Christ Sauveur un moment unique d’intimité avec Dieu, me laissant portée par les chants et les icônes à perte de vue. Ensuite, j’ai goûté chaque partie de la messe catholique, très contente de comprendre le sens de ce qui se passait et de pouvoir participer à voix haute par les réponds, les chants, la profession de foi, les échanges de paix et les prières.
L’unité des chrétiens me tient à cœur et j’ai eu la chance de participer, toujours à Moscou, à une soirée de prière à cette intention. Elle était organisée par un groupe d’orthodoxes fervents qui travaillent à l’unité de ces deux églises sœurs, orthodoxe et catholique! Je suis très heureuse d’avoir la foi et d’être catholique. Cette foi qui implique une dimension d’ouverture et qui est universelle, comme l’indique son nom. François nous invite à nous ouvrir, alors provoquons des occasions qui favorisent les échanges entre chrétiens.

During my visits to Moscow in recent years, I had the opportunity to visit Orthodox churches, and I really like the atmosphere. This context, is an excellent opportunity to experience prayer without words. My most memorable experience was to transition from an Orthodox celebration to a Catholic mass, one after the other. I truly experienced the complementarity between those 2 types of prayer.
I have lived, in the Orthodox Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, a unique moment of intimacy with God, lliterally transported by the songs and the numerous icons. Subsequently I savored each part of the catholic mass, very happy to be able to fully understand the meaning of what was unfolding, and to be able to participate, out loud, to the responsorials, the songs, the profession of faith, the exchanges of peace and the prayers.
The Christian Unity is dear to my heart and I had an opportunity, still in Moscow, to participate in an evening of prayer to that intention. It was organized by a group of fervent Orthodox who work at the unity of these two sister churches, Orthodox and Catholic! I am very pleased to have faith and to be Catholic. This faith which implies a dimension of openness and universality, as its name suggests. Francis invites us to be open, so let us foster opportunities that facilitate sharing with other Christians.
